Library Adds New Job and Career Tool to Online Database
Fort Bend County Libraries announces the recent addition of the Job & Career Accelerator™ resource to the LearningExpressLibrary online database. This new easy-to-use online application provides a variety of job-search assistance tools to help job-hunters in their quest for the right job or a new career.
The Job & Career Accelerator feature enables job-hunters to explore detailed information on more than 1,000 different occupations, and matches interests and skills with possible careers. The resource also provides more than five million up-to-the-minute local and national job postings.
The Job & Career Accelerator provides valuable tips and advice through every step of the job-search process – from the initial search to the acceptance of a job offer — and helps the user to organize and track their job-search progress. Job-hunters will also learn how to create professional resumés and cover letters, and practice interviewing skills.
The Adult Services staff at the Sienna Branch Library will present an introductory demonstration of the LearningExpressLibrary’s Job & Career Accelerator resource on Thursday, April 11, beginning at 10:00 am, in the Computer Lab of the library, located at 8411 Sienna Springs Blvd in Missouri City. Seating is limited, however, and reservations are required. To register online at the library’s website (www.fortbend.lib.tx.us), click on “Calendar,” select “Sienna Branch,” and find the program. Participants may also register by calling the library at 281-238-2952, or by visiting the library.
The LearningExpressLibrary Job & Career Accelerator resource can be accessed remotely at any time of the day or night from a home computer with an Internet connection. A library card barcode number is required to use this resource outside of the library.
For more information, call the library’s Public Information Office at 281-341-2677.
