The Fort Bend County Libraries are presenting three valuable job search programs in March:

#1: GET JOB-SEARCH ASSISTANCE AT MISSOURI CITY BRANCH LIBRARY SERIES

#2: LEARN JOB-SEARCH SURVIVAL TIPS AT FIRST COLONY BRANCH LIBRARY

#3: INTERNET JOB-SEARCH WORKSHOP AT MISSOURI CITY BRANCH LIBRARY

Here are the details:

#1) GET JOB-SEARCH ASSISTANCE AT MISSOURI CITY BRANCH LIBRARY SERIES

Fort Bend County Libraries’ Missouri City Branch Library, 1530 Texas Parkway, will present a 5-week series of free Job-Search Assistance programs in March. JoAnn Kawamoto from Texas Workforce Solutions will offer tips on a variety of topics for job-hunters. All programs will take place from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, in the Meeting Room of the library.

          The schedule of programs is as follows:

         March 2 – Creating a Resumé

          March 9 – Interview Skills

          March 16 – Making Connections

          March 23 – Evaluating Your Skills

          March 30 — Creating a Resumé

Kawamoto is the Regional Facilitator with Workforce Solutions. She has more than 10 years of experience helping people find jobs, keep jobs, and get better jobs. She conducts job-skills seminars that connect potential employees with employers throughout the 13-county Gulf Coast region.

#2) LEARN JOB-SEARCH SURVIVAL TIPS AT FIRST COLONY BRANCH LIBRARY

Have you been searching for a job and not having any luck? Maybe it’s time for a change in your game plan. Fort Bend County Libraries’ First Colony Branch Library will present a free, two-part workshop on “Job-Search Survival Tips,” beginning on Monday, March 7, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm, in the Meeting Room of the library, located at 2121 Austin Parkway in Sugar Land. Part 2 of the workshop will take place on Tuesday, March 8, at the same place and time. Different topics are discussed each night.

The workshop is designed to help all job-hunters, from those applicants applying for a position at a fast-food restaurant to executives looking for a position in a large company. The tips that are presented can help any applicant plan a more efficient job hunt and make a more favorable impression.

Learn tips on writing a better resumé, researching prospective employers, interviewing and non-verbal skills, making a great first impression, networking, and much more. By developing an organized plan of action, the applicant is able to experience a more efficient job hunt with an increased chance of success.

In the series, a team of 10 professionals, with decades of experience in corporate America between them, will share their insight and the experiences they themselves have had in the business world – from the perspective of the employer doing the hiring as well as the employee looking for a job. The job-search survival team includes business owners, financial and mortgage advisors, computer consultants, sales and marketing professionals, and advertising and communications executives – all of whom volunteer their time for this workshop.

#3) INTERNET JOB-SEARCH WORKSHOP AT MISSOURI CITY BRANCH LIBRARY

Fort Bend County Libraries’ Missouri City Branch Library will present an “Internet Job-Search Workshop” on Monday, March 14, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, in the Meeting Room of the library, located at 1530 Texas Parkway.

Michael Clement, Program Manager of Employment Services for Family Services of Greater Houston, will explain how to effectively complete an online application, how to submit a resumé and cover letter online, and how to search for jobs on the Internet.

A part of the United Way, Family Services of Greater Houston is one of the oldest non-profit social-service organizations in the area. The agency’s Employment Services program helps individuals develop career goals, create plans for achieving career goals, connect with employers, and advance in their careers.
